PINK FLOYD

WERCHTER 1994

Source:  September 2nd, 1994 - Festivalweide , Werchter, Belgium .

Album notes:  Performance in the European part of the world tour "Tour '94" in 1994, promoting the album "The Division Bell."

Standard set for 1994 years in a typical system works (before the "Sorrow," the team "A Great Day For Freedom ", while in the second part did not play at all," Us And Them " ).

Not the best quality, this is one of the technically inferior bootlegs from 1994. The material comes from a source, conventionally designated as the first Recorder Despite recording made ??from a distance, d increased and vocals are quite clear, without major disruption.

In most preserved the continuity of the concert. Write divided into 2 segments, but contrary to the actual course of the show. Not very thorough indexing.

Show identification:

First set starts with „Shine On You Crazy Diamond”. „Take It Back” and „A Great Day For Freedom” were performed before „Sorrow”. In second set „Us And Them” was not performed at all. Guy Pratt yelled [„...back to Belgium...”] during „Run Like Hell”.

LDB Master Series #39

Hello, this is a collection of masters I would like to seed here. I've been taping shows for more than 20 years and have an awful lot of masters. Most of them are in the old cassette format, some others are on MiniDisc and others are on CD. I've taped many shows of many artists over the years, so don't be surprised if you will find many different artists taped! Some shows are already circulating, some others have not circulated through collectors yet. But most of all, enjoy! They all come from my mastertapes!

This is all has been broadcast, which is the first set. Apparently, Waters did not allow the radio to broadcast the most interesting part, where Nick Mason joined the band for Dark Side of the Moon. Hope that a complete audience version can be available soon. Meanwhile, here it is the broadcast. At the time I upload this one, the show hasn't finished yet, which makes this upload probably the quickest seed ever!

As usual, I've edited out the nasty dj chatter (this time there were even TWO dj's talking bullshit, instaed of one!) to let you enjoy the music only. I left the commentary during the spoken introduction to 'Leaving Beirut' because you can hear Roger's voice (although covered by the fucking translation).

Listen to Roger's dedicating 'Wish You Were Here' to Syd, and try not to cry if you can ...

Shine on, crazy diamond.

There are four different versions of this show I've found, 1, 2, 3, &4 CD versions. The 1 CD version is an FM broadcast, the 2 CD is a consise version, the 3 CD starts at Tempted, and the 4CD is the entire thing. This is a new transfer from another copy of the tape used for the 4 CD version. The person who made the 4 CD version used too much noise reduction and the final product is pinched sounding and has little high end. After listening to it I decided that it didn't stand up to the tapes I had, so I made a new transfer. It DOES, however, fit on 3 CDs, so I didn't go for the overkill of 4. I did use noise reduction, but with more care than the previous recorder, ans I EQd it to get the most out of the high and low end. The tape is, however, quite midrange heavy and weak in the low end, so I couldn't get a lot of body or bottom out of it. There are also a few flaws, notably a tiny little blank spot in Jim's intro, and a wrinkly sound in Roger's calls from the hall for a second, but that's what you have to deal with with 20 year old cassettes sometimes. I also had to shuffle some audience noise around from different parts of the show to cover the tape flips and make the CDs run smoothly.
So now you are currently in possession of the most complete KAOS show that I know of, including a portion of the set break, with the added bonus of The Great Gig In The Sky featuring Clare Torry (this chick does not know this song very well; she never should have been awarded writer credit on it. I've heard her do it live on 5 shows [2 in 73, 2 in 87 and 1 in 90] and she's awful. Gives you an idea of what the master takes must have been like before Parsons, Gilmour and Waters edited the decent parts into a composite take). The only thing missing from my tapes was Jim playing Radioactive by The Firm, which I haad to cut in from the 4 CD version. This has noticeably different quality, but hey, go listen to the album if you want to hear it that bad (hehe).
Thanks to Quentin1840 for providing another great tape for me to work with. How big is your closet, Q?

Comments: I think this has the whole show from start to finish - unedited and no cuts. Sound quality is excellent. Probably soundboard (or very high quality audience) recording. Timings are measured (and include applauses, band introductions, guitar tunings, etc). All in all, this is very nice roio - even the song credits are correct! -AARO

7. Re-track.

Notes
Since the beginning of the tour Gilmour has played the whole new album during the first set of each show. Initially, the show would open with this album but on April 16th, the day before this performance the decision was made to take the Breathe-Time-Breathe reprise segment and move it to the beginning of the show. This allowed him to welcome the audience after playing these songs and then introduce the new album before any of it was played. This worked well so it was used again during this show. During the second set, Shine On and Wearing The Inside Out are played, as they have since the beginning of the tour. This is followed by Arnold Layne which is performed here for the first time since October 6th, 1967 making this a very special show. The song was then included in additional shows in both Europe and the US and is featured on the Gilmour commercial DVD as he sings the song with David Bowie. The remainder of the setlist included songs played consistently throughout the tour. Both source recordings were excellent but had different dynamics and slightly different sound characteristics. At times, there is a nice stereo separation so listening with earphones is recommended.

Notes from the Re-Master

This is the first of many 2-source stereo remasters that will be added to the PRRP collection over the next year. Modern remaster software and modern digital recording equipment makes this an achievable process which would have been almost impossible, just a decade ago. For this remaster, two good sources were obtained. Many 2006 Gilmour shows were reviewed before this show was chosen. Many shows on the tour were recorded by more than one taper but often tapers were too close to each other or way off to one side. The position of these tapers plus the excellent equipment they both used and the uniqueness of this show as the first with Arnold Layne, made this show ideal for the 2-source stereo project.
This technique has been used on the RMCH remasters of the Led Zeppelin reunion show and the 2011 Roger Waters WALL show featuring David Gilmour playing Comfortably Numb; both of which have been available on DIME. Both were completed before this David Gilmour 2006 project. Even though all of these tapers at these three shows used excellent, modern equipment, a careful synchronization was needed to keep the recordings in balance and in phase with one another. Proper mixing and blending of the two sources is also important to create the sense of a center channel and to avoid excessive panning. Dynamics, power and EQ also differ from these recordings and matching them as much as possible before the merger helps to create a symmetric stereo image. I hope that you find the result worthwhile.

Comments: Timings are my own. The recording is very good, but being an audience recording in ITALY you hear them clapping too fast on WTTM, yelling in TGGITS and so. Apart from that a very good performance -PIET

Total playing time : 149:35 -ECLIPSE

Don't you just hate Italian audiences, they're almost as bad as the audience on the In The Flesh! (1)CD. To me, those screaming and shouting and yelling and clapping (out of tune!!) people ruin the fun of the ROIO, although it's complete and has G(VG) sound I wouldn't buy it. -GERHARD

Allow me to clearly state the lineage:
my lp > CD Wave Editor > wav > MKWact > shn > TLH > FLAC (Level 8)

I wanted to listen to this one sometimes,
and wanted to preserve my vinyl copy,
so that is why this digital copy was made.
i apologize for what pops or clicks there are,
but I didn't want to alter it in any way so
it is what it is. Enjoy!

PinkMike

p.s. shine on is missing the beginning. It's that
way on the record.
