Personnel: David Gilmour :: Nick Mason :: Roger Waters :: Richard Wright.Notes: Animals In Beligum was supposed to be the silver pressed debut of the February 20th, 1977 show at the Sportspaleis in Antwerp, Belgium. Unfortunately, Godfather made the common error is pressing the February 22nd show at the Pavillion de Paris, France. The Paris show has been issued many times before, most recently on Funhouse (Siréne-220). Godfather sounds very good and is an excellent edition of the show.
The chracteristics of the legitimate Antwerp tape are: “Sheep” missing the beginning soundscape, “Dogs” having a cut at 15:37, Roger Waters shouting out “13 in “Pigs (Three Different Ones),” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V)” missing the beginning, Edith Piaf and a female DJ speaking Flemish is audible on the radio before “Wish You Were Here,” and audience conversations in both Flemish and Belgian French are audible throughout the show.
This tape circulated as Antwerp for many years. And, to add to the confusion, the legitimate Antwerp tape is missing “Money” and the first Paris show’s encore is used as a replacement. Despite the error, this is a very good release by Godfather. The sound is much better than Funhouse and is highly recommended. The packaging is also up to the label’s usualy high standards. Perhaps they can print sleeves with the correct information in future runs. (Info taken from collectorsmusicreviews.com).
